Kegonomics: Crafting Coffee-on-Tap Programs

Tuesday | November 19 | 8:30 – 9:30 AM

Draft coffee, or cold brew on tap, is one of the most compelling products to hit the OCS channel since the K-cup. Growing customer demand has led to an influx of new entrants in the space, which has ultimately given operators many options for the design of their keg programs. But it is not a one-size-fits-all model. The many variables to consider have significant impact on the economics – for both operators and customers – and can be daunting to navigate. This session will explore the growth of cold brew kegs and the current options on the market. Discussion will include trends and innovations in dispensed cold brew, the economics of crafting a keg program that benefits everyone in the value chain, and how to offer cold brew kegs that are low-maintenance and high-margin without sacrificing product quality.

Ben Gordon
Co-founder & President
Wandering Bear Coffee

Ben Gordon and Matt Bachmann co-founded Wandering Bear with a simple mission: to put great cold brew on tap in offices. The NYC-based brand launched in 2014, offering cold brew subscriptions to offices around the Big Apple, often hand-delivered by Ben and Matt themselves. Since then, Wandering Bear has grown to establish a national footprint and a reputation for serving offices big and small with Fair Trade & Organic coffee packaged in unique and sustainable formats. Ben oversees the company’s office sales channels, managing relationships with their network of OCS & vending distributors and establishing partnerships with the major food-service operators. Ben has been on the front lines of the cold brew category, and has helped shepherd the 4th wave of coffee into the office environment.
