Water is a primary ingredient in coffee, but what’s in that water can greatly impact the flavor profile of the coffee as well as performance of the equipment. This session will help you understand how water quality impacts taste profile, coffee extraction, scale, and corrosion, and will provide useful information on treatment solutions to combat these issues.

David Emmens is the technical training manager for Pentair’s Great Lakes region. He trains a wide variety of employees, including the sales team, distribution network, dealers and installers. He also produces training materials such as videos, WebEx presentations and live events. In his seven years at Pentair, he has held many roles, including technical support manager, and key account technical advisor. David has been involved with water chemistry and associated treatment equipment since 1989 after receiving a B.S. in Chemistry.

Cortney Scharenberg is the Technical Training Manager for the Pentair’s East Coast U.S. and Canadian regions. She trains a wide variety of employees, including the sales team, distribution network, dealers and installers. In her six years with Pentair, she held the roles of Midwest Regional Sales Manager and OEM Sales Manager prior to switching over to the training side of the business. She has worked in food and coffee services for over 17 years in a variety of sales and service roles, and has a background in chemistry and environmental studies.
