Coffee Legend of the Year Award

A NAMA Coffee Legend is a pioneer, innovator, leader, and much more. They are passionate about coffee; they are willing to share that passion to educate and help others succeed.

  • A nominee must have a minimum of 10 years of service to the coffee industry.
  • The nominee must be readily recognized as a pioneer or innovator in the coffee industry.
  • The nominee must have been recognized by his or her peers in the past for exemplary business practices, for being active in local charities or civic projects, or have received recognition for exemplary support of the coffee industry.
  • The nominee exhibits a history of service and leadership to the industry. Active participation in NAMA, state councils, and their communities is highly valued.
  • A nominee will have contributed to the promotion of the coffee service industry through trade magazine articles, leading education workshops, published papers, etc.
  • Distinguished participation to the coffee industry includes but is not limited to coffee service operators, coffee roasters, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, brokers and educators.
  • The nominee is respected within the industry due to her or his integrity, follows consistent ethical business standards as described in the voluntary NAMA Ethics Standards, raising the level of professionalism, helping others succeed, and/or providing educational opportunities.
  • Must be a NAMA member in good standing at the time of nomination or time of retirement.
  • Nominees must not have been honored with the award within 7 years.

Selection Process

Coffee Legend inductees are selected from an exemplary group of individuals, nominated by their peers making it a real honor.

Nominees will be contacted by NAMA Staff to apprise them of their nomination. The nominee must confirm their nomination by completing a brief application to be considered for the award.

Deadline to submit nominations is August 28, 2019.

Industry Awards

NAMA Industry Awards are presented to individuals that best exemplify consistent advancement of the convenience services industry.

The 3 awards to be presented at The NAMA Show in Las Vegas are:

Industry Person of the Year

The Industry Person of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has consistently exemplified the highest standards of professional excellence and achieved business success throughout his or her career in the convenience services industry. Candidates have been an inspiration and thought leader to others throughout their career.

Operator of the Year

The Operator of the Year Award is presented to an individual that best exemplify consistent advancement of the convenience services industry. Candidates must be innovative and possess a willingness to expand conventional business practices.

Allied Member of the Year

The Allied Member of the Year Award, presented to a non-operator member, recognizes an individual who has exhibited the highest level of integrity, dedication, and leadership to the convenience services channels. Candidates must provide innovative leadership, products and services that demonstrates responsiveness to the needs of the industry through education and best practices, helping operators grow their businesses.

Eligibility Criteria

In addition to the criteria listed above, nominees must meet the following criteria.

  • Nominee must be a NAMA member in good standing at the time of nomination.
  • Nominee exhibits a history of service and leadership to the industry. Active participation in NAMA, state councils, and their communities is highly valued.
  • The nominee is respected within the industry due to her or his integrity, raising the level of professionalism, helping others succeed, and/or providing educational opportunities.
  • Nominee must be innovative, possess a willingness to expand conventional practices and follow consistent ethical business standards as described in the voluntary NAMA Ethics Standards.
